The Importance of Having a High Quality Phone Grip for Your Mountain Bike

Man on mountain bikeWhy is it so Important to have a High Quality Bike Mount for Your Phone?

Simply put: if you have a $1,000 phone, you should have a grip that is high quality enough to keep it safe while you’re riding. The old adage “you get what you pay for” is oftentimes true when referring to inexpensive products; a cheap price usually means a cheap product. Not only do you have to replace cheap products more frequently than high quality products, but there could be collateral damage in the process. If you try to save money by purchasing a cheap bike mounting kit, your phone could fall off and be damaged more easily, causing you to need to replace that as well. Here at CruZen Outdoors we make innovative and creative outdoor recreational products right here in the USA, so you can trust that our products are quality.

The CruZen Outdoors X-Grip

The CruZen Universal Bike Mount is an X-Grip handlebar mounting kit that is the most complete mounting kit on the market. It is designed specifically for what riding a bike is actually like. Whether you’re on the road or on dirt trails, there are bound to be bumps along the way and therefore your bike and mounting kit are going to move with the vibration.  Even as a high-quality product, the X-Grip still costs you less than $50 and is guaranteed not to disappoint. Most people today use smartphones, and as unbelievable and helpful as smartphones are they do not come cheap. Most of them are hundreds of dollars, even upwards of $1,000, and are not easy to replace. For less than $50 this smartphone holder is guaranteed to save you the hassle and expense of having to replace your phone due to it being dropped or damaged while you are riding your bike. Watch a brief video demonstration, which shows just how much vibration the CruZen X-Grip can withstand while you’re riding on a street, dirt road, or even on a mountain trail.

If Only they had the X-Grip Handlebar Mounting Kit!

We wanted to share a neat story that someone we do business with shared with us recently when we came to his mind while he was out on a camping trip. “This past weekend I went on an adventure into the Rocky Mountains from Denver. My goal was to find an incredible camping spot near where I had gone a year ago. Upon arriving at the off-roading road we noticed a ton of mountain bikers ascending alongside us. We were constantly passing them or letting them pass us for the hour-long journey to the summit. When we were about 15 mins from the top, we passed a biker who flagged us down. He let us know that he had his phone mounted to his bike but somehow lost it on his descent. He told us to keep an eye out for his phone near the summit, but we never came across it, and I doubt he did either amongst the cracks and ravines. Immediately after saying goodbye to the disappointed biker I realized that he should have just purchased the CruZen Outdoors X-Grip. Why waste money on a cheap phone grip that will fail when you’re biking with a $1000 phone?” ~ Steele Thanks for sharing your story with us Steele, we couldn’t agree more. Without a trusty universal bike mount, you could end up like this guy, biking up and down the mountain desperately trying to find your phone.

  1. I just received a Cruzen Universal Smartphone Mount for my birthday. Everything I review shows the phone mounted in “Portrait” view. It seems that the phone would be safer in “Landscape” view. Do phones really stay in the grip on bumpy surfaces in “Portrait” view?

    1. Hi Mr. Kraemer

Thanks for your comment. The grip has been tested rigorously in both landscape and portrait angles on bumpy surfaces such as cobblestone as well as over potholes, gravel and other rough services. Many of our users are avid downhill enthusiasts which is probably one of the roughest terrains you can encounter on a bike. Although we are confident in the design and performance of the phone mount, we provide a tether with every grip that enhances the durability exponentially. In fact I personally have wrecked pretty hard while using the grip and tether combo and my phone stayed in the holder as intended.
